Goat Diplomacy
Three women at a fence, mid-conversation with a goat that has clearly made up its mind.

I'd gone out to a farm in Maryland on a bright afternoon with a short telephoto and no plan beyond seeing what the light did. Near the red barn, three women stood along a fence in easy summer clothes: soft gingham, a dusty pink sundress, blue stripes, gold hoops, sunglasses pushed up into someone's hair. It was a relaxed farm-day look, and it sat well against all that barn red.
Then the goat arrived, and each of them reacted differently: one mid-sentence, one reaching out a hand, one squinting through a grin as he leaned in. What made me lift the camera was three separate moments happening at once, with his horn cutting across the frame. I stayed back so I wouldn't crowd them and took a few frames.
